This news highlights how Canada and the US are on divergent paths when it comes to freeing up energy to boost the economy.

Slowing down pipeline approvals as is happening in Canada can only result in less investment in our energy economy, not more.  And ironically, it does not help the environment, as replacement projects also get sandbagged by endless reviews and consultations.  Replacement projects are key to keeping our energy sector as environmentally friendly as possible.

Meanwhile, as energy transport infrastructure gets the green light south of the border, new shipping capacity will help US oil and gas producers out compete their Canadian counterparts.

All of which means more partnership opportunities for American landowners, and fewer for Canadian farmers and ranchers.
